Drama

Drama is an important and popular component of our co-curricular programme with many pupils choosing to take part and experience live performing.

Performances take place on the stage in New Hall, in our studio space in New Place, our dedicated Drama Department, or at the Amphitheatre in our school grounds where pupils can enjoy the chance to perform outdoors.

We offer the following opportunities each week:

LOWER SCHOOL DRAMA PRODUCTION
This is a Drama Club for First and Second Form pupils who perform together throughout the year, including A Lower School Christmas and the Summer Show in the Amphitheatre. Junior House Drama in the Spring Term is a popular choice for pupils. Enthusiasm and commitment is all that's required - no prior experience is necessary.

MIDDLE SCHOOL DRAMA CLUB
This is a weekly club designed to stretch and challenge skills in performance, creation and design, aimed at pupils in the Third and Fourth Form. Pupils take part in a local Drama festival in the Spring Term. Third Form students can also take part in the Junior House Drama competition.

MAIN SCHOOL PRODUCTION
This is a wonderful opportunity to join a cast for the Main School Production and perform in a large-scale show in late November. Rehearsals are throughout the Autumn Term with a whole cast call on Wednesdays after school. Fourth Form pupils and above are encouraged to audition. Backstage opportunities are also available.

NEW VIEWS PLAYWRITING
Running during the Autumn and Spring Terms, this course enables students to write a short play with an opportunity to submit an entry to the New Views Playwriting Competition in association with the National Theatre.
