Charity

As part of the School’s motto (non nobis nati – not born for ourselves), charitable initiatives are at the centre of the School’s mission in creating students who are empathetic, generous, and humble. Our aims are to:

  1. Encourage charitable endeavours across all year groups.
  2. Increase participation in charity.
  3. Provide a diverse range of charitable activities.

Every week during the Autumn and Spring terms, students from a year group contribute to charity whether through giving up their time, fundraising, or donating. This has included community litter picks in Verulamium Park, switching off lightbulbs to save energy, bake sales, and donations of items to local hospitals.

In addition to this, students have put forward their own ideas including quiz nights, book donations, and personal sponsorships. These have raised valuable contributions for the local community to assist those who need help most.

To facilitate a whole-school contribution, we fundraise during our Christmas Carol Concert, our Lower School Christmas event, and Founders’ Day. This enables all pupils to donate together for very important causes.

The School strives to make a difference in the community as most donations are given to local charities such as MenCap, Herts Youth Homeless, and Youth Talk. This is in addition to other charities such as Mind and UmRio.
