About SASA

You are automatically a member of the St Albans School Association if:

  • You are the parent or guardian of a pupil at St Albans School
  • You are a parent or guardian who has accepted a place for your child at the School
  • You are currently or have been a member of staff of the School
  • You are a member of the Old Albanians

One has only to take one look at the School bus map, with its tentacles snaking out as far as Knebworth and Luton to the North and Mill Hill to the South, to appreciate that the footprint of the School is enormous. As a result, parents rarely have the opportunity of meeting up with other 'far-flung' parents, other than at 'official' events at the School.

Mindful of this, SASA was formed to act as a vehicle to bring parents together at informal events and to develop more extended relationships with staff and others associated with the School.

Each First and Third Form class has at least one Class Rep and a class WhatsApp group.  If you are a new parent to the School or have not yet managed to join your class WhatsApp group, please contact SASA by email sasa.committee@mail.com and we can put you in touch with your Class Rep.

Typically, we aim to organise one major event each term. Over the years the most significant of these (both in terms of numbers attending and of funds raised) has been the Quiz Night in the Autumn Term.

We maintain a close relationship both with the Old Albanians and with the Sports Tours Committee and representatives of both attend our own committee meetings.

Once current restrictions have been lifted, any forthcoming events for 2021 will be shown here,

Grants

The objective of SASA is not primarily one of fund-raising. However we do like our events to run at a profit and, over the years, we have been able to purchase many items for the School for which funds would not otherwise have been readily available. You can read about a few of these here, and see pictures of earlier SASA donations in the Photogallery section at the top of this page.
