The Third Form marks a pivotal stage in each pupil’s educational journey. It's a year where curiosity deepens, passions emerge, and the foundations for future academic excellence are firmly laid.
In the core subjects of English, Mathematics, and the Sciences, we aim to strengthen solid foundations before pupils embark on their GCSE pathways. In English, they explore the richness of both Language and Literature, developing critical thinking and expressive clarity. In the Sciences, pupils will study Biology, Chemistry, and Physics as distinct disciplines, nurturing a spirit of inquiry and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Our commitment to a broad and balanced education continues with engaging studies in Geography, History, and Religious Studies. Pupils do, however, have an opportunity to begin to tailor their curriculum to meet their interests as they begin to look ahead to their GCSE years.
Pupils can choose to allow their creative sides to flourish through by opting for subjects like Art, Design Technology (including Electronics, Graphics, and Resistant Materials), Computer Science, Drama, and Music — all of which can be pursued at GCSE level. These subjects empower pupils to express themselves, innovate, and think beyond boundaries.
Language learning is a cornerstone of our global outlook and continues to hold an important place in the Third Form curriculum as pupils choose from French, German, Latin, Mandarin, and Spanish, with all expected to continue at least one modern language to GCSE. In these subjects too, they will begin GCSE preparation in earnest, laying the groundwork for linguistic confidence and fluency.
Physical wellbeing remains a priority, with timetabled PE and a Games afternoon offering an expanded array of sporting opportunities.
Above all, the Third Form is a year of growth in every dimension — intellectual, moral, physical, social, and spiritual - with the study of PSHEE forming an important part of a pupil's weekly timetable. We guide our pupils not only to academic success but to become thoughtful, compassionate individuals, ready to embrace the opportunities and responsibilities that lie ahead.
