Mitchell Zhangazha (OA 2013)

From an early age, Mitchell always had a passion for singing and acting.

At just five years old his first professional job was in the production of Three Birds at the Gate Theatre. Two years later, Mitchell made his West End debut in the original cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at The London Palladium. Mitchell worked on various jobs in the West End whilst a pupil at St Albans School, but valued his time at school as it gave him the chance to connect with different people from different backgrounds, and learn a variety of different subjects and topics. This then led to a three year History degree at the University of Southampton.

Since graduating, Mitchell has most recently appeared in the West End productions Aint Too Proud, The Life and Times of the Temptations, Motown: The Musical, as well as other stage productions including Five Guys Named Moe, Our Lady of Kibeho and Back to the Future: The Musical.

Lockdown provided Mitchell with the opportunity to venture into other areas of the entertainment industry and he was cast in three feature films released in 2022.

Mitchell is currently understudying two protagonists in the Olivier award winning musical, Dear Evan Hansen at the Noël Coward Theatre in London.

Mitchell’s advice to any student looking to have a career in the arts is to not compare yourself to anybody as every actor has their own path and journey. The industry can be tough and provide a lot of rejection, but as long as you’re working hard in your spare time; studying, perfecting your craft and most importantly, enjoying what you do, then you have the foundations to build a successful career.
