On 10 October, it was World Mental Health Day and the School was a hive of activity creating greater awareness of this complex issue amongst pupils and staff and to raise money for charity
Head of Middle School, Ms Baxter, led the organisation of various activities for pupils, such as a mental health quiz, a bake sale and a mindfulness exercise, which they could take part in during their tutor period. There was also a video to watch from the campaign Time to Change, designed to encourage communication about mental health.
There was also plenty for staff to get involved in too, starting with a wellbeing breakfast in the Refectory, followed by a bake sale at break. Staff were also invited to a Forum led by Mrs Malacrida, Head of Religion, Philosophy and Ethics, on ‘Anxiety and related disorders,’ a yoga session to promote wellbeing, and a discussion on mindfulness led by Mrs Coudert.
The day proved to be a great success and a total of £400 was raised for the charity Mind.
