Hawking Lectures Sign Off with Dinner

    May 13th, 2006

This year’s Stephen Hawking Science Lecture Series ended on a high with a final lecture followed by a black tie dinner. In the first part of the evening Dr Areles Molleman spoke about the science of cannabis, dispelling some of the rumours which surround the drug with careful appplication of scientific analysis. He spoke about the effect of the drug on the body’s cells and nervous system, the problems of recreational use and also the use of cannabis in medicine. The lecture was very informative and very clear on the dangers of cannabis. The black tie dinner for Sixth formers and staff which followed was also very successful. There have been six lectures in the series this year, and the School is looing forward to the new series beginning in the Autumn term. One of the highlights of the forthcoming series should be a lecture by Professor Stephen Hawking himself, which will be sure to attract a large crowd.
