Publications
The Publications Department is responsible for the dissemination of information about the School, to pupils, parents and the wider public.
The main publication is the School magazine, The Albanian, which is published each December as a record and review of the preceding academic year. It contains all the news about the School, as well as features and a selection of students’ creative writing and artwork. It is a substantial publication, published in full colour.
Highlights is the termly newsletter, reflecting the key achievements of the preceding term. The Autumn edition contains an insert with all the results of public examinations. As well as being sent out to all parents and being available from the School, this publication is also available on the website (Highlights or Communications links).
In addition to these printed publications, the Department is also responsible for the creation and maintenance of this website, which has become one of the School’s primary means of communication. The front news page is regularly updated to keep pupils and parents abreast of developments in the School and the latest news. Because of its immediacy, the website is also used to communicate short notice or emergency news, such as School closures due to weather. If you are a parent of a pupil in the School, make sure you have the site bookmarked.
The Department also produces all the advertisements for the School, liaises with the local press and publishes internal information, such as curriculum booklets, also available on the Communications page.
The Publications Department employs a small team of Sixth Formers, who work with the staff to create these various publications. They are students interested in journalism, editing, design, graphics and website development. The Publications centre is situated in School House, equipped with a network of Apple Macintosh G5, iMac and Mac mini computers, the design and print industry standard. The team members become adept at graphics manipulation and page layout, using primarily Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign.
