Pupils had a choice of extra-curricular lectures when James Patel addressed the Economics Society about accountancy, while the Stephen Hawking Lecture Society was delighted to welcome Professor John Pickett of the Rothamsted Research Centre who spoke about pest control and chemical ecology.

Gritty Drama from the Third Form

Parents of boys of the Third form boys were treated to an evening of original drama in New Place, with a series of plays, written, directed and acted by members of the year. The six best plays from last year’s play writing competition were performed to a full house.

Runners Regain Henry’s Crown

The School’s Cross Country team beat off strong challenges this week to win the King Henry Relay for the ninth time. The race is without doubt the premier schools Cross Country event, with 50 schools from all over the British Isles vying for the trophy. Long term rival Judd School was competing, alongside Manchester Grammar, which won the trophy last year, as well as strong running school such as Marling School and St Anselm’s College.
