Jonathan joined St Albans School as Headmaster in September 2014. Jonathan was educated at Bedford Modern School and Selwyn College, Cambridge, where he read Modern and Medieval Languages.

After completing his PGCE at Cambridge he taught French and German at Highgate School, London before joining Fettes College, Edinburgh where he was Head of Modern Languages and then Housemaster of a boys’ boarding house. Jonathan’s first headship was at Lancing College, West Sussex (2006 - 2014).

In addition to his academic, pastoral and leadership responsibilities, Jonathan has been heavily involved in coaching sport, in particular hockey and in the Combined Cadet Force. He is an umpire in the men’s national hockey league, a keen hill-walker and an enthusiastic, but mediocre, golfer. He celebrates his family’s Scottish roots by playing the highland bagpipe.

Jonathan is married to Caroline and they have two adult sons.
